Fifth Dimension and Beyond

Rarely comes a time when you see a movie, and you’d wanna build on the concept, maybe even take it forward. Let me be clear when I say this, that I’ve always been fascinated by cosmology, astrophysics…and even metaphysics on drunken nights! Now, this fascination is not merely wondering but seeking. Yeah, we’re all seeking answers. Some seek answers to elementary questions, some to existential questions, and some others to the transcendental ones. Some seek them all.

To start with, yeah, ‘Interstellar’ is the movie the whole world has been raving about, partly because it has pushed the boundaries of imagination and partly because many found themselves lost. There are even exercises on understanding the movie, which can be found all over the web. Gladly, this is not an exercise in that direction. What WE ARE gonna do here is delve deep into ‘higher dimensions’ and see if it makes sense!

And, before we go any further, you might wanna plug this song in and read on for better effects!

Alrighty…

As we all know we’re in the three dimensional world, doing what we can to live our lives, fulfill certain objectives which may or may not be myopic, but certainly limited in the larger picture. Our commitment towards sustainability in principle, and much less in practice, is only part of the story.
Part of the problem that the movie highlights is that human existence on the earth may not be forever and the sooner we wake up to it, we’d make an attempt to secure our futures. At the moment, it is part of fascinating movie themes for the populace, and covert and overt missions for a handful of countries. The scientific studies have broken a few codes and understood a few higher dimensions, which is what my understanding is obviously based on. Still, safe to say that we’re nowhere close to what they stumbled upon in the movie, THE FIFTH DIMENSION.

In the 3D world, we live linearly which means that we start at birth and go on till our death. However winding our path is, we still envisage it linearly. And I’m sure we all know that the fourth dimension is time. Time is a concept which can be used universally. But in the microcosm, we could say it’s our time on earth or our lifespan. Therefore, in the fourth dimension, it is our lifespan which can be viewed in a 3D frame of reference, meaning the ability to see our own lives from start to end.

The trick is you can see what’s going on, as well as what has been. Funny like that, but if you see your future, it changes. You’re not going to live it out the way it was meant to. Here comes the fifth dimension. The fifth dimension is the split, or the branching out. It is all the permutations and combinations of possible futures that you can live, one at a time, while making changes in the present, or the past. It is the level of consciousness, or cognizance, of your being.

But then, our lives are like river streams and they flow in the direction ordained as the rivers cut through mountains and rocks. A slight tinkering may not make much of a difference, but a significant one will change the course of the river. In the fifth dimension, one may live any possible life and keep coming back to change it for another course of life. It’s, again, the branching out of all different possible lives that lies in our choices in 3D, subject to change in 5D.

What if one wants to live more than one possible life simultaneously? How would the fifth dimension enable that? The thing about life in fifth dimension is one can chart out a possible path and keep changing the path from any point in the past, but cannot live two different possibilities simultaneously. This is where the sixth dimension comes in. 6D is where one can live the multiple paths at the same time. Wow! It’s like opening the pathways of all possible lives and at any point in time, jump from one path to another.

Are we gobsmacked yet?

Let’s take an example. You become a doctor, lawyer, engineer, entrepreneur, etc. depending upon your choices of higher education in the 3D world. In the fifth dimension, say, you don’t like the course of a doctor, go back in time and change the course. But then you gotta live it out to find how it goes, before you can contemplate other choices. In the sixth, all possible futures are living themselves out, you just gotta make the jump! The fold in pathways is there.

Let’s zoom out.

In the macrocosm, the sixth dimension entails all possible ends of the universe, right from its beginning. This, as we know it is infinity. In the seventh dimension, this infinity is but a point. Who’s to say this is the only universe, or this is the only beginning that there is?

Imagine another universe with multitude of probabilities. And picture all of that as a single entity. If there’s a frame of reference joining this universe as it exists with another universe as that may exist, this frame of reference would lie in the seventh dimension. Woah!

Now, let’s speed this up! The eighth dimension would be branching out of the universes or a multitude of the above mentioned ‘frames of reference’ into conglomeration of infinities. The ninth dimension would be a merging of any two frames of reference and thereby colliding of universes.

Tenth dimension is where all the possible universes which constitute a ‘multiverse’ are taken as a single entity, as a point. This point in the tenth dimension exhausts all the options that we can conceive of, at the moment. This is as far as String Theory in particle physics has led the scientists to understand. This is as far as it makes sense.

Of course, as I began by saying, we’re still limited in our understanding…
